Visit the Beaches & Castles of Evia..!!

It is just about time people start to learn about what Evia island is all about. It is packed full of sublime beaches, endless beach bars, but also great mountains rising just above the numerous coastal destinations.

On the first two days we will enjoy seaside cycling both on mainland Greece and Evia island. Lefkanti seafront and Alykes beach are the best you can get just 15 minutes from Chalkis. The beaches are packed full all the way from May to August, having the option of swimming.

Our mountain destination is Steni where we will have the opportunity to experience high altitude mountains just 30 minutes from Evias’ bustling cities. Fresh trout after cycling is a must on DAY 3.

DAY 1 : 27km

Peacefull and small, Lefkanti is our starting point for this ride. Following Lilas river which is mostly dry all year round our trip will lead us to the plains of Mytika vineyards. We go past the artificial lake of the village Fylla with a view of the castle. Leaving the lake we will visit the castle of Knight Lykarios enjoying the stunning view of North & South Evian gulf, the mountain peaks of Dirfis, Parnitha & Evian Olympus.

Our journey takes us to the quarry of magnesite above the village of Afrati. Again we will ride a small singletrack and follow the Lilas riverbed. Following the stream of Lilas we will come across the Two Towers of Fylla and the two Bridges of Fylla, the new and the old one. Next stop is the Medieval tower of Vasiliko which has recently been restored.

Both starting and ending point is the beach of Lefkanti.

DAY 2 : 50km

Being a moderate mountainbiker this is a ride you will enjoy.Take part in this beautiful cycle along Chalkis’s sublime seaside houses and  coved beaches. You  will  have the opportunity to have a swim at the  sea (have your swimming gear with  you).  Cycling along many winding  beaches, is followed by demanding climbs on the slopes of Htypas mountain, with grand views of Chalkis, Ktiponisi (or “Englishman’s Island” and the Evian gulf.)

DAY 3 : 25km

We start our tour from the village of Steni. We head on to the mountains following dirt roads. We ride our bikes all the way to 900m of altitude. We enter a small single track and lead our way towards the hidden village of Kabia where we will enjoy fresh trout (freshly caught from the trout farm, which we will visit) and cold beer. We set of again towards Agia Kyriaki chapel where we can have a dip in the river. The route is circular and will take us back to our hotel.

DAY 4 : 19km

Starting of at the village of lower Steni, our trip starts off reasonably easy, following rolling hills, cycling past beautiful little chapels. We cross the river of Steni numerous times till we make our picnic stop at this beautiful church next to an abandoned watermill.

DAY 5 : Departure

After a good breakfast, it will unfortunately be time to travel back to the airport.. However if you wish why not extend your stay and have a guided tour to the Acropolis of Athens or just spend a few more days in Athens or on Evia.
